HOUSTON (Gray Information) – Law enforcement are seeking for a suspect just after a Texas father was fatally shot when driving with his two younger sons. The boys have been compelled to steer the automobile off the freeway to security.
A 29-yr-old father was driving around 10:40 p.m. Friday on Interstate 10 in Houston with his sons, ages 6 and 8, when the boys read a loud noise and watched as their father slumped above the steering wheel, KTRK reports.
The boys grabbed the wheel and steered by themselves off the freeway to a strip shopping mall parking whole lot, where they obtained support from a lady exiting a close by restaurant.
Officers identified the target had been shot in the head. He was pronounced useless at the scene. His sons explained to police they assumed somebody had thrown a rock at the car or truck, in accordance to KPRC.
The boys ended up not harmed in the incident.
Police credited the boys for their quick-pondering in getting the automobile off the occupied freeway, indicating their steps may well have prevented more tragedy, KTRK reports.
Officers are now looking for the shooter. Any motive is unfamiliar.
“We never know if it was street rage or if it was another person in fact seeking to get these people,” explained Lt. R. Willkens with the Houston Law enforcement Division. “So, prayers for their spouse and children. The young ones are safe appropriate now.”
HPD is on the lookout for a “white passenger auto,” according to CNN. Investigators are anticipated to evaluation video clip footage from the freeway cameras and canvass the area for witnesses.
