Besler, the school’s 2020 homecoming queen, is “a really humble person,” Ostwinkle mentioned.

Besler attended Farley Elementary and Drexler Middle faculties right before advancing to large college in Epworth.

“Walking in as a freshman, I was absolutely incredibly anxious about acquiring shed — the typical freshman detail — I was just form of likely with the flow and hoping to endure each working day,” Besler said. “By senior 12 months, I have figured out just to enjoy every working day being in this article and remaining with my classmates.”

Besler credits her advancement in university to her involvement. She has performed tennis, softball and volleyball all four many years at Wester Dubuque.

“I unquestionably bought concerned in points — with all of my sports activities and staying in management (course) and pupil authorities,” she mentioned. “Getting associated produced me far more at ease with faculty.”

Besler has been included in college student federal government all 4 several years.

Ostwinkle claimed Besler delivers a maturity to college student leadership.

“She can see the students’ side of items and the administration’s side and say, ‘Hey, how can we make this get the job done?’ She seriously attempts to get all people included,” Ostwinkle stated. “She’s incredibly great at knowledge the views of other persons.”

Besler is shifting on to Wartburg College or university in Waverly Iowa, to participate in volleyball and research elementary training with an endorsement in math — her most loved subject matter.
